Annette Haven Martin was born in 1943 and was the first beautiful woman of porn. She was classy and shapely and brought to the porn industry its first (and best) taste of an actress with intelligence. She believed in what she was doing and was stern in her convictions. Brought up a Mormon, Annette rebelled against her upbringing and brought to the screen a strong female character that many admired. Her quest: to change American attitudes about sex and sexuality.
She has played every kind of part. From that of a coy virgin to a self-confident executive. In all of these roles she is uncompromisingly her (pardon the pun) cock-sure self. In the industry Haven has been blasted as a bitch and hailed as a role model for porn actresses and everyday women alike.
In her later films, Haven remained staunchly faithful to her refusal to engage in facial cumshots. However, her characters were becoming more and more often that of professional women unafraid of their sexuality. Her philosophy is best summed up by the following quote: "I cook, I sew, I clean, I knit baby booties
the only difference between me and lots of women is that I think sex is ok, and Im not afraid to say so
The whole point of my being in the industry is to help change American attitudes and establish that sex is a good thing. I still consider myself a lady."
She received the Best Supporting Actress award in 1977 from the Adult Film Association of America for the movie "Coming of Angels".
